Know what the investigation needs to answer.

We begin with a de-identified discussion of the questions, relevant jurisdiction and decisions ahead. Authority, potential conflicts, proposed enquiries and reporting arrangements are addressed before appointment.

An agreed scope identifies the work, deliverables, timing assumptions and commercial arrangements. Where new material raises a different question, we discuss the change and obtain further instructions.

Connect each enquiry with a material issue.

Interviews are planned around relevant questions. Statements are prepared for witness review and correction. Documentary records are identified and linked as annexures where appropriate, with a chronology that connects material events to their sources.

Surveillance or other field activity is considered only where it has an agreed evidentiary purpose, appropriate authority and a confirmed scope. An observation is reported in its context, including the limits of what could be observed.

Findings, witness accounts, investigator analysis and unresolved gaps remain distinguishable. References help your team follow the basis of a material proposition and understand what further enquiry may assist.
